I am sure I am not the only one trying to work within a budget so maybe if you know of any free sights to search Parish Records you could add them here........... Please :-)

Hi, Very few PRs are available online apart from the transcripts on the IGI - which are not altogether reliable. However, individual researchers have put some online, often just a few years or single surnames. The best way to find them is via google. Gwynne

The other is Hugh Wallis Batch number you can search this one by parish for a given surname. It will then list any that are in that parish. Irene

Hi Gaynor, I usually google on the county or parish I'm interested in, ie. 'Dorset parish register transcripts' etc. One site for Dorset transcripts is http://www.rootsweb(.)com/~engdorse/PRBT.html Apart from the IGI you could also search 'familyhistoryonline' which has indexes and info for most counties, all submitted by local family history societies. It costs to view full details, but only a few pence per view, so won't break the bank. http://www.familyhistoryonline.net Cazza

Hi Gaynor, search for "free census data" on this board for lots of free sites. search here also for "online parish clerks" or "OPC" for links to OPC projects. Dorset OPC is absolutely fantastic !! : http://www.dorset-opc(.)com/ the search engine is great. put in combinations of data and search type: "find ALL words" You can spend hours here, they have census, B,M,D data and directories. Other OPC sites are also good, but so far, dorset is the best I've used. Another source of free records are the UK-BMD sites. search for UK-BMD" on this board.

Hi Kathleen, Put "Lambeth Parish records" into a search engine such as google and you will find out if any are online. Or you will get details of where they are held. Gwynne
