Just downloaded a document this evening - no problem. There was a message to say they had been experiencing problems and were working through the backlog. Julie

I had the same problem and the same automated email reply when I emailed them but I then phoned up and a lovely lady answered: couldn't have been more helpful. She took my email address and has promised to send the image I ordered as an email attachment tomorrow (much better than the ten day wait that the email quoted) so I have fingers and toes crossed. She did say they have been snowed under with requests for documents online - don't think I'll risk ordering any more for a while. Judith

Hi Natalie I used this site to download a document on sunday. It took my payment details, authorised it then went to error. Still waiting for e-mail!!! I e-mailed them today to see what was happening and recieved an automated E-mail saying they will get back to me in 10 days. This is the first time ive used the site so hopefuly they will help!! Sue

With a bit of luck you may get your downloads free. When I had a problem with a download they let me have it then refunded the money. Fingers crossed, eh.

i was wondering if anyone else is having problems with the new national archives website documents online? i know they're very busy at the mo but ive had a very bad experience with them. last week i tried to download 2 documents. paid my money and tried to download. it wouldnt let me look at documents so i had to go to the email they sent me. the email told me that my browser settings weren.t correct and showed me how to check them. did that and they were fine. (i had been able to download the william shakespeare will which tells you of you can download documents). i still could not download the documents so i emailed them. The website said that they would respond to me within 3 days and resolve the prob within 10 days. i never recieved an email so i called them earlier today. the lady apologised and promised to send the email again. she didnt do that. i recieved an email to say that they would contact me in 10 days!!! so i phoned the complaints line and spoke to someone there who promised me that it would be rectified by the end of the day. still waiting for the phonecall. if they had just sent an email to say that they were extremley busy but would contact me qithin 10 days that would be ok, but for them just not to acknowledge me at all when i've paid to see documents i think is terrible!! let me know if anyone else has had problems!!!
