Hi Helen, The name is Duffy, not unfortunately uncommon, he was born in Derry (Londonderry) he was called Stephen and his father was John, he married Mary Anne Campbell on 12/06/1900 the marriage cert. says "full age" for date of birth, I know all this through my dad's cousin who still lives in Derry but unfortunately that is all he could give me, he didn't know my grt.grandad's mother's name and i really don't know what to do short of visiting Ireland which at present is not possible, i am waiting for conformation from one of the church's in derry who hopefully can verify it for me, but i'm not holding out much hope. Thanks Tricia

If your G Grandfather has a fairly unusual name then it is possible you have found the right person. But beware, it may well be that this name was common in the area, children were always named for their grandparents, parents and parents siblings, so often more than one child would be baptised with the same name around the same time. It may be worth looking for all records of the same surname in the area to see how common it was. You may find siblings for your G Grandfather this way too. Post the names and dates on here if you would like any help.

Can any one tell me how accurate the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints search is. I know my grt.grandfathers' name his fathers' name his wifes' name and his wedding date, i put this info into the search and it gave me a birth for some one of his name and father's name and the county in Ireland he waw born and also a mother's name, can i assume that this is the correct person? Hope i have made that clear. Thanking you in advance. Tricia
