In the GRO indexes the mother's maiden name is printed after the entry from 1911 onwards. It is a great help in grouping sets of children! Anne

Does anyone know what year mothers surnames were added to Birth Registers on 1837. Also was it Married, Maiden or both names used. I am trying to find out how many children my Ggrandmother had, and going thorugh the 1837 web site is the only way I can think of doing it. Thanks for your time and help Lorraine
