I have just received a copy of mine, very little detail on it no date of birth, no godparents I knew the name of one of them, no address only the village, as it was war time was it normal not to record some things or was the vicar slack. ANN

My father's was a gaudily coloured affair, obviously published in their thousands by spck, with no more than his name, address and date of baptism. The big surprise was that he was baptised in the Church of England! It seems extraordinary that church registers don't include god-parents, but I've only seen one that did. You'd think that god-parents would be important, but no. Brenda
