Does any brainy person know what occupation a Type Founders Porter was, or if not where I could find this out? Thanks. |

Sounds as if he could have been a porter in a foundry. I tried a google search using founders porter and got a lot of hits regarding an American drink. |

Sarah Can't find it in my old occupations list, but I imagine that its someone who fetches and carries [porter] for a man who casts [founds] type - ie as in a printing press. nell |

Thanks for looking that up for me, I can now look at the trade directories in the area to find any printing businesses and carry on from there. Best wishes, Sarah :D |

A porter can also be a door or gate keeper |
