Hi George and others, You could try the site for the Ulster Historical Foundation (just google it). I've just found my great grandparents 1890 marriage in Belfast on here. I think I was lucky as they have a free search facility and only one came up for my name so I was fairly sure it would be them. I didn't know the townland or parish only that it was likely to be Belfast. I had to pay £6.00 to see it.

Help, how did you search on that site? I tried a search and it told me that it would cost 45 euros (20 of which would be refunded if they had no luck)

Irish success http://www.irishgenealogy.ie/frame_1280.cfm Thanks to the above site I am actually getting somewhere with my Irish research, I made a huge breakthrough in my Irish Research, quite by accident I found a website with a searchable marriage database. Thought I'd take a chance and look up my gg grandparents marriage, not expecting to find it!!! and guess what, there was a perfect match :~)))))) Thing is all it said was: Daniel O'hanlon - Ellen Daly, marriage year 1877, Source Centre- Armagh Ancestry. Which is great cos it gives me a definite county that they resided in , though I am told that to order a cert from the Northern Ireland Register Office they must have a town grrrrrrr Also know that Ellen left a brother John in Ireland who worked for Jamesons Whisky in Dublin. It occurred to me tonight to search for Lydia Pattison said by my gran to be her mums cousin in 1901 censuss and I found her with her parents in South Shields and have traced her parents marriage tonight too which told me that my gg gran and lydias mum were probably sisters :~))))))). So don't give up on your Irish lot, you may just get your lucky break!
