Thank you Amanda, yes I do have the image and it is very puzzling because susannah Rosebrook who I think might be Susan Priors mother, turns up on the 1891 living with Prior family can't find her on the 1881 though - makes you wonder where she was in 71? apparently Stansted was in Hertfordshire in 1861 so thats why its not on the Essex census. Have put a message on the records office but suspect no one will have it. May be lucky though. Thank you for your help. Alice

Hi Alice Have you got the 1871 image for him? Looks to me as if he is married but his wife is missing, daughter, Susannah age 27 but married, in the same household. I don't mean his wife didn't die before 1871, just wondered if you have the image. Amanda

Hi Alice I have had a look at 1871, plainly says Stanstead. There is no Stanstead on the index of the 1861 Census, or Bentfield, or Stanstead Mountfitchet. Try ringing the Essex FHS and see if they can help with a district, not given up yet but don't know where to look next. Best wishes Amanda

Hi Linda I'll have a look at 1871 tomorrow and see if I can find the correct parish. Nothing is coming up on the discs I have. Best wishes Amanda

Hi amanda, I am looking for Ambrose and Susannah Rosebrook and family, living in Stansted Mountfitchet. In 1841 they were in Bentfield a nearby Hamlet and in 1871 Ambrose was living in Stansted at 90 Bentfield End. Trying to establish if they had any other children and when Susannah died. Thanks for any help you can give Linda

I keep putting a request on for a look up for these on the records office but have had no luck. I was just wondering if they were available on disc or if anyone else had had any luck for requests for these. I have been so lucky with help from GR members, it seemed unusual not to get a reply. If I am not successful I will be going to the records office again shortly and would be willing to do a few look ups if I get time - will post a message nearer the time. Alice
