Sorry - didn't read your message properly. If you put "WW1" into the thread-search, or possibly some other military word like "soldier", there are a number of threads which may have useful links for you. Christine

this one is excellent as a starting point if the name is not too common: http://www.cwgc.org/ Otherwise you'll need more info before you start. It seems to work best on Explorer (so far). Christine

if you go to http://www.documentsonline.national-archives.gov.uk/ and search - you can see their medal index cards - but it costs £3.50 to view

ive been on the war grave commission web site and found out that my nan had a brother and an uncle who was killed in WW1 and i wa wondering how i could possibly find out more info on them. did local papers have a kind of obituary for local people who were killed. or is there any other websites? i'd just love to know more about them
