I too was disappointed with BVRI. But I've recently bought the National Burial Index v2 and have been delighted with the number of ancestors in it - but coverage varies from county to county so check before buying, as it's not cheap at £45

I agree, just recently got the CD's (first time I had ordered anything) and for my ancestors in Hants, berks and Lincs there was nothing on the CD's that I could not get from the LDS site and in most cases the LDS site had MORE records! I was very disappointed,

I found this on a website - the info is 2+ years old but may still be correct: >The British Vital Records C.D. set is £22.95 > >..... > >Credit card or cheque payable to "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day >Saints." > >Address as below: > >LDS Distribution Centre >399 Garretts Green Lane >Birmingham >B33 0UH > >Fax Orders 08700 102052 >Debit / Credit Card Orders 08700 102051 Regarding the counties you mention (my rating) Durham - poor Kent - fair (at best) Yorks - somewhere in between (Based on number of baptisms in each county and how big the counties are) I can refer you to www.familysearch.org and you can follow the links to find out the coverage. "Order/product downloads" "Software and Databases" "Vital Records Indexes" "BIVRI 2nd Edition" - near the bottom of that page is a link to "Count of records for each county".

My hubby keeps asking me what I would like for Xmas as I was wondering if the BVRI is worth having? Most of my ancestors are in and around Durham, Kent and West Riding. If it is worth buying, how do you order it from the british LDS as the site link takes you a US$ site! Also see Trade Directories mentioned a lot - are these worth having? THanks for any info Kay
