I have only just started trying to trace back my family tree and I have been looking on the internet and I am baffled. There are so many different sites I don't know which is the best one to subscribe to. Any ideas?

If you are vlooking for anybody in Scotland-this one is very good-www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk. It costs £6 for 30 credits but worth it. Rosalyn

Hi, Have you tried searching on the LDS (Mormon site) for baptisms & marriages? if not the number is (remove brackets) www(.)familysearch(.)org Instructions are on the site and its quite easy to operate, can be a bit busy in the evening however. If you know any names of your ancestors, insert the name in the section required, and place of birth if known, if not just leave that blank, try first for baptism, then when you have that, look for the marriages, and going further, when you have info for the marriage, try searching for their children, just put in the parents name and then search have a go and explore the site, good luck There are many free sites to use, depending on what you are seeking? also, free BMD (births marriages & deaths) again if you know the names and roughly the period of time, try that also

Hi Have you discovered the Getting Started and other useful links at the bottom of your Home Page, here? We aren't quite sure why GR thought it was an improvement to hide them in this way, but, there they are! Christine
