Emma No, you can't search old papers online (apart from a few available via the British library site, for selected dates only). The British Library newspaper library at Colindale is one place to look. Records offices have local newspapers on microfilm - I used one recently as the Colindale material was not fit for use. Look at Lambeth's archives' site - there's a separate list of papers they hold www.lambeth.gov.uk/services/leisure-culture/libraries/archives/ But if you think she was a performer, try contacting "The Stage" - I'm not sure when this started, but its a professional paper for actors. Hello, does anyone know if its possible to search old newspapers online, free if possible. My G Grandmother was a dancer, i have photos of her on stage which were obviously proffesional photos and thought perhaps they were taken for posters or newspapers. She lived in Lambeth, and as i am having trouble finding out anything about her i thought this might be a lead.
