ive found my great great grandmother on IGI. ive found her birth, christening and marriage but cant find her death. this has happened to a few of the females in my tree. when they die, would they be under their maiden name or married name? |

People are registered and buried under the name they were using when they died - so it should be their married name if they were married. There aren't many burial records on the IGI. Nell |

Almost the ONLY burial records on the IGI are those which have been 'submitted' by people and not extracted from the parish records. Therefore do not believe them unless you have checked for yourself! The IGI did not set out to record burials but the NBI covers many of them now, although there are still many missing. You could try asking for a look-up on the NBI using her married name. Anne |
