Bev Ashton is the name of a registration district. The volume number applies to a section of the country - for example 4b is Norfolk, 1a/1b/1c are parts of London and so on. For details about which area covers what, and which vol numbers are where, look here: www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/REG/index.htm You need to quote these, plus the page, the person's name etc to order a cert. You can do this online here: http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ Nell |

Ashton is the registration district vol 8d is the volume number. However, the volume number should be followed by a page number and you also need a year and a quarter within that year (Mar, Jun, Sep, Dec) to get the certificate - I assume you have the name! e.g. 1894 March Ashton 8d 547 would be the convention Jonathan |
