Hi, For deaths 1984-2002 I recommend bmdindex co uk, it is really easy to use, also has births and marriages. You are given most of the info for free, you only spend a credit on the death record to find out the date of birth of the person who died. It has other records too. Diane NSW Australia

Hello I take it you're fairly new to this - in which case, Welcome! I suspect you haven't discovered that GR hides all eth useful How to Start and useful Links bits down teh bottom of your Homepage - you'll find it if you scroll down! (We're still trying to work out why they thought that was an "improvement".) Amongst those links is: http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/ This site has a whole lot of links organised by county and by type (e.g. census). Some of the Local Register Offices have searchable BMD sites. They aren't complete yet, but they're free as afar as they go (until you actuallyu apply for a cert, when it's the same price as GRO). It's worth bearing in mind that the local offices have the source data for the GRO records, so it's one transcription less. good hunting! Christine
