Can anyone help??? I am trying to trace my grt grnd father and family but none of them are on the 1901 census. My grd father and his brother and sister whom I know both lived until the 1970's were all born befroe 1901. How do I trace them if I think that maybe my grt grnd father may have been in the army and not in the country at the time? Would it have been normal for his whole family to have been stationed with him abroard. I would appreciate any tips, as I am a real beginner. Lorraine

Lorraine, can you give us some names / dates / places and we might be able to help find them for you, they were mis transcribed quite often, so you might just need a fresh pair of eyes......... Jane

Hi Jane, Thanks for the reply Right here I go Thomas William Kitchener (B: 1860ish D: 11/11/24 Lambeth) married Eliza Jane Mead (B: 8/9/1866 Devizes Wiltshire D: 22/1/17). They had a son Thomas Alexander, who was born and died in 1891, a daughter Ethel Theresa B: 1892 D? daughter Dorothy Marion B: Lambeth 1894 D: 14/10/72 my grandfather Arthur B: 3/11/1896 Brixton D: 23/5/83 and Thomas Alexander B: 27/2/1898 Lambeth D: 3/6/74. Considering that all but two of the above were alive before and after 1901, you can see why I am rapidly going bonkers and broke. Thanks again Lorraine :-)

Judith, WOW! WOW! WOW! Yes that's them, thank you so very very much I am so exicited that you have found them for me THANK YOU. THANK YOU , THANK YOU. Can't you just tell that I'm a beginner, to be getting so excited about finding the whereabouts of people whom I already knew were already there somewhere. Thank you so much. :-) Joy Thank you, Yes, I found Thomas in 1881 he was an author, which I had been told by my Dad which made it easy to identify him on the 1881. Thank you Joy. Loz :-) Thank you

Judith, Sorry in all my excitment I forgot to ask, where did you find 'them'? Something else that I meant to say was that it was only tonight that I discovered that there was a James (brother of Tom) when I found Tom on the 1881, I also discovered that their mother was from Dublin. So even thogh I have only been researching for about three weeks, it looks like I will be "off" to Ireland as well on my search. Once again thank you so much Loz ;_0
