This could be her birth record FAIRHURST Gladys WIGAN 8c 110 birth registered in the Mar q of 1911 Anna :-)

I had one ancestors who lived about his age on certificates and I think he changed his name too. If you know your grandmothers mother then you could use this as a checking point when you apply for her birth certificate via the GRO. Have a look for her birth registration on 1837 online or try freebmd but that is not complete. Nicky

The reason is that her older brother and her were 1 Father and her 3 younger brothers were sons of William. My Gt. Uncle is still living and he confirmed our suspicions. Andrea

Hi Andrea, If your grandmother stated at the time of her marriage that her father was William why would you think her father was his older brother James. Nicky

Can anyone help me. I am looking for my Grandma's birth certificate. We were told her date of birth was 1st Jan 1911, on her marriage cert. it says Father William, but we think her father was James (older brother of William), now we are doubting that her dob is correct. How can I find out. Her name was Fairhurst and Mother's name Alice. Thanks. Andrea
