Hi Heather - the UKBMD site is very good but the coverage varies depending on which County you are after.

Hello Heather There's a very useful links website: http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/ If you click on the "local BMD" icon on it's L-hand side, you get the list of so-far Local BMD websites with online searching. The list is alphabetical, except it's in two parts. You get down to Yorkshire in the list of sites using the same format and then a new alpha list starts with other Local offices with online searches in other formats. You'll see what I mean when you get there! (There doesn't seem to be a very London one yet, but you might try looking at the county lists - see below - in case there's something there of use). There are also list of sites by county and some other specific-purpose sites (census, one-name-study) grouped together. Christine

Someone pointed me to the brilliant Lancashire BMD index. I wondered if there is anything like that for London marriages about 1940 - 1942. Trying to find marriage between Lilian Rigby and George Martin. Many thanks.
