Hi Pat, no you should be okay with this address. My grandfather only happened to be serving during WW2, he didn't die until 1983. I didn't have to send for his records in the end, because we discovered that my uncle already had them and he emailed them to me today. But the next of kin has to give permission because there's personal stuff on there (well nothing nice and nosey, just personal details!). But I emailed them and the forms came the next day. You need to have as much information as possible. I'd found my grandad's service number on his marriage certificate, although they didn't necessarily always put it there. Good luck! Mandy :)

Thanks, Mandy Have made a note. We do have some Naval personnel in the family tree, so I may need to follow that up. Christine

If anyone is trying to obtain RN Service Records, I have the relevant details. Please note that this is only for Royal Navy, it doesn't include Merchant Navy. The email address is navysearchpgrc AT tnt(.)co(.)uk. You just need to tell them your postal address, and they will send the application forms out by return. The cost of obtaining the records is £25. However, you must have permission from the person's living next of kin, but they do provide a checklist if you need help working it out! I hope that this might be of use to some of you. Mandy :) PS, had terrible trouble - the 'at' sign doesn't come out on here so I hope you understand what I've put! Remove brackets and gaps.
