Records offices sometimes offer searches, but they charge! You could try contacting the relevant family history societies, as they often have parish transcripts, or people researching the same names/villages. nell

Have you tried the Family History Online site? You do have to pay to view the records but they are only a few pence each. I have found quite a few BMDs on there which are not on Family Search. The coverage does vary though from County to County. You can search for free, but need to pay if you want to view the records.

Find all you can about the record office, book a B&B and have a nice break!

Hi, If the LDS church have filmed the parish records you need to look at you can order the film at an LDS centre near you for a small fee and search it there. Gwynne

take a look on the records office message board. people on there offer to do look-ups in their area for people in the same situation as you who can't get there themselves. hope this is useful :0)

Well Natalie, I think you will have to pay a visit to the Record office near to where your rellies have come from, you can then look at the parish registers, a good excuse for a few days away. Someone else will be able to help you also I am sure.
