Dont know if it helps, but my Uncle played for Arsenal before the war and my Dad played part time for several clubs! I read recently that all clubs, even amateur clubs have to submit their records to the FA from year dot. Is it worth you contacting the FA?

The other thing is there is bound to be a mad Crystal Palace fan out there in cyber space who probably has their own web site and knows every player for the last hundred years, so you could try googling.

Just found this on Google Another ex-Palace player who died in tragic circumstances is not often mentioned, is Les Lievesley who was coach of the famous Torino side that was entirely wiped out in an air crash over the city in 1950. He was not the first former Palace player to lead an Italian Championship winning side, as Bob Spottiswoode was actually manager of Inter Milan before being forced out with many other foreign nationals when Mussolini swept to power.
