I have been searching for some time for my g grandmother Mary Ann Cox born in Lewisham in 1861 father James Cox a blacksmith. I have never been able to find them. I only know about her fathers occupation given on her marriage certificate and I only know she was born in lewisham by the 1901 and 1881 census. I have found one James Cox blacksmith living in the right place born Inkpen. I would love this to be him but a few things don't match. I can't get any further back until I find him in the same house as his daughter Ahhhhhhhhhhh......... Can anyone help? Very Mad Alice |

Alice I assume you've tried the 1881 and 1891 census? Ali |

I have her on the 1881 and 1901. She and her son disapper on the 1891 and she reappears remarried on the 1901. I have never found her on the 1871. Perhaps her family moved to a place that ancestry doesn't cover yet. IT IS REALLY FRUSTRATING! |

Do you know when in 1871 she was born? Is it possible she was born after the census was done? |

My eyes are going squiffy and the baby's finally gone to sleep so I'll have another look in the morning. Let me know if you have any luck! |
