Beverley Report 9 Nov 2004 13:16

Pls can anyone help - my maternal great grandfather LAUCHLAN MACKENZIE was a soldier and apparently died whilst serving in India. I have no idea of his age/birthplace/parentage/or regiment. His name appears only on my grandmother's marriage certificate. He was deceased at the time. Thanks Beverley How can I find him?

Beverley, Maybe a coincidence, but CWGC has details of a sailor - Signalman Laughlin Mackenzie who appears to have gone down with HMS Hermes in 1942, near Ceylon (modern day Sri Lanka, near India). Ian

Beverley You must have some idea about when he was around - 1940/1840/1860 whenever. There are lots of India Office records (including bmds) in the British Library. Does his occupation on the certificate give any clues? Was he an officer, because he would be in the Army Lists. nell
