If he's not on the 1891 census perhaps he died? Anne

Do you mean he is on the 1881 census with his parents, but gone by 1891? We will need more details to track him down - age, place of birth etc. And as someone else has said, maybe you should also be looking for a death. Carole

Hello Glascote appears to be SE of Tamworth. If you travel down the A5 about 5 or six miles towards Nuneaton, you get to ATHERSTONE. On the Warwickshire BMD site (https://www.warwickshire.gov.uk) I found this: Surname: FARMER Forename: John Middle Initial: Year of Marriage: 1893 Reference: 767/NWC33/2/255/1 District: ATHERSTONE (the Registration District in which the marriage took place) Spouses Surname(s): HOLYOAKE It's not a definite match, of course, but it might be worth looking around to see if it ties in with any other info you have. If you decide to go to the site, you can print off (or fill in online) a partially-completed application form which can be posted or e-mailed. The fee will be the same as GRO. good hunting! I had an inspiration - I put Holyoake in with the same year but without an initial. Her name was Fanny. Do they have any children called Fanny? Christine

Hi Liz, This probably isnt your fellow but I thought you might make use of the information, On ancestry I just put in John born in Kettlebrook, and found the following, Ancestry have it down as the following, John FANNER, 23, b Kettlebrook, Lodger, residing at Ilkeston Derbys, However I've looked at the image and it could be John FARMER, 23, Lodger and a Lead Miner, I have saved the image if you would like it, if so just email me with your email address and I'll send it to you, Tammie

Hello Elizabeth The Local BMD sites are similar to the GRO index, for which they have the source data. What you get is a chance to search the list and then, if you click on their reference, you get a partially-completed application form for the certificate. Mostly you have to print it off, complete and post it, although a few have set up online-ordering. The postal system seems to be at least as quick as GRO's online system, in my experience. What that means is, No, you don't get the parents' names. You do often to get more info than the GRO or Free BMD lists, though, because, not only can you match up the names, but it often gives the precise location of the event, not just the District Office. I do recommend you have a look for yourself. It's one of the list of them on: http://www.ukbmd.org.uk Christine
