How do I trace a 'criminal' ?

Mary - the local records office should have details of the court sessions (quarter sessions) - assuming of course he was caught and tried! Will also give sentence and any witness statements. Sheila x |

Try the Black Sheep Index, you might find something on there. It has some information on people convicted of crimes. |

I just might have a bit of a 'character' in my treebut need to know moreabout him. His name is Samuel Pendered, of Spratton and he was convicted at Spratton in 1816 for the theft of ale from a R. Rogers (have some Rogers in my tree as well!). Is there a site for details of this sort ? Sorry its very vague but its all I;ve got to go on Thanks Mary |
