Reseraching my grandfather's railway career

My grandfather -in-law Herbert Coussens was an engine driver. He worked for the S.E. Division based at Hastings. He was awarded a gold watch for 45 years service back in 1963. Unfortunately photos of him driving the steam trains have disappeared from the family collection along with any records of his career. I would like to try and find out some more about his life but obviously the railway organisation has changed since the 1960s so the address I have for the S.E. Division would have changed. Has anyone any idea who I could write to? I will also probably write a letter to the local Hastings paper to see whether any residents remember him. I would be most grateful for any pointers! |

If he started in 1918, it would have been the South Eastern and Chatham Railway in those days, before becoming part of the Southern Railway in 1923. |
