Ancestry.com & 1851 Census

It has been available for years but as many separate files for each county. This is the first time that I have seen a copy where you can search the whole country. It is obviously only 10% so pot luck whether you find your ancestors. I found my Great Great Grandmother and family very soon after I started on the family history so I was very grateful for it! Similarly I have been looking into some friends's family and found their Great Great Grandfather's family. Like any information source it is great when you find what you want but a disappointment when you don't! Martin

i thing this cross section of the 1851 census has been available on the webb for a long while, else ware, it is a bit like ancestry using stuff from free BMD, it is only 10% and is of very little help, i have about 100 different famly names and have found nobbody in my tree on it, it is not brilliand by anymeans and it is a list only not images

Just to let those who do not already know some 10% of the 1851 Census is now on Ancestry-it seems fairly well spread over most counties-Stanley
