Louise, Gordon Beavington has almost finished the 1851 Hertfordshire Census CD package. Look under www.mycensuses(.)com - remove brackets. His are around the cheapest - probably a 4 CD pack for £15 - and should be ready on 15th November. Regards, Kathy

I agree, I found the Hertford record office (HALS) very helpful. They have all the Herts censuses there as well as lots of other stuff. We visited last October and parked in front of the building - seemed to be plenty of room. We were also allowed to buy lunch in the staff canteen!!! Anne

I have visited County Hall at Hertford. They have an excellent centre (HALS) and the staff there are very helpful and friendly. Hope Hertford is easy to get to for you. Just a word of advice about parking. Parking at County Hall is not brilliant. rather than waste time looking for a space ytry parking in one of the adjacent residential roads opposite wher parking is free.

Thanks for that tip Joy! It would appear that the 1841 census for Herts is available from S & N Genealogy Supplies. Will be popping that one on my christmans list! Jeanette x

Jeanette. The only details I have for Daniel are from the 1861 ST Pancras London census which states his age (55) and that he was born in herts, I cant find a wedding cert (yet) for when he married an Amelia Philips who was from Timsbury Somerset, and his Death cert has nothing to help with his past! A newly found cousin has been searching for 5 years........but he hadn't found the bit about Herts. Its causing me a huge headache. I think the only option would be to buy it if there is one and then help others? Louise

Hi Louise I'm also researching in Herts and I think that only the 1871 and 1891 are available to purchase. An 1841 would be very handy wouldn't it! lol Perhaps the Family History Society for the area may be able to help. Or maybe the records office (HALS I think it is) would do a search for you for a fee if you know where he was born. They may also hold other census records for Herts Jeanette x

Does anyone know how to get a hold of information on Census records for Herts? I'm new to research and can't get a hold of details on a Daniel Burdett born circa 1805 in this area. In all various branches of the family have been searching for a yearfor anything on him. Louise
