Just done an address search on the 1901 site and there is a liverpool street in Brighton, don't know who lives there as didn't want to pay..... in the Parish of St Peter "Blatching??"

Do you think that had benches on different platforms?

Must confess - haven't looked on 1891 census as would have to pay and am too mean - and this is only a side issue to my actual search. Just thought it was intriguing (intrigueing?) to find out where ancestors were staying prior to marriage. Neither lived in Brighton prior to marriage, so assumed they stayed somewhere for the 3 week period needed to qualify to get married in the parish, and then I got interested as it looked like they had stayed at Liverpool station!! Thanks, Della

Della Can you find it on the 1891 census?

Thanks Gerry, but definitely Brighton in Sussex. They were married in "The parish church in the parish of Brighton in the county of Brighton" - you made me do a double take though! cheers, Della

Della. I hope this doesn't seem too silly a question, but it is Brighton and not New Brighton, Liverpool is it?

I have just received the marriage cert. of my ancestor, which shows the place of residence at the time of marriage (of both parties) as, what looks like, 11 and 12 Liverpool Stn! As they were getting married in Brighton this seems highly unlikely! The date of the marriage was 1891. Can anyone throw any light on this? The writing on the cert is quite difficult to read - it could be Liverpool St, or Liverpool something else. I can't find a Liverpool st, or road, in Brighton. Does anyone know if there is/was a Liverpool hotel, guest house, or ANYTHING called Liverpool in Brighton in the 1890's? Tearing hair out, Della
