Possibly the parents were in the workhouse and children put in home ,sometimes they split the boys from the girls.

In regards to my previous message 'cant read what it says' many thanks for all who replied!! It gets better as it goes along - a Buss born in a Car Park!! Actually the name was BUIS, thats about all i am sure of. This person is a relative of a friend of mine, offered to help with her tree and its a nightmare. 2 children in a childrens home in 1901 but parents and elder siblings nowhere to be found. (Nor is her mothers birth on GRO) she had a Aunt Peg who married this chap called Charles Eugene W Buis. Found his birth in 1899 in Lewisham, is that near where you all said? (cant see the message right now) also found his marriage to a woman with the same surname as Aunt Peg but she was called Doris H on 1837 and Doris Ellen on BMD - thats after spending an age looking up Peggy's and Margarets. So Buis isnt on the GRO census - not surprised the whole family is a mystery i.e. woman having children after they are supposed to be dead!! As for Charles, cant find his death, maybe they took him to a scrap yard when he died!! Anyone with any ideas with missing people ,or how to find out why children were in this home it would be very much appreciated Thanks all maureen
