i am trying to find the marriage of my great grandfather. i have looked on ancestry, free BMD IGI, everywhere. i have just been told by a family member that she thinks that they he married in Eastern Europe or somewhere and that the name we use today is an abbreviation. where on earth would i fid this information. my grandfathers Birth Certificate shos the name we are now.

When are we talking about? Would you have him on a census with his place of birth/wife's place of birth as a clue to roughly where in Eastern Europe they came from? nell
