You might also consider whether the name has been varied from its original. One possibility is Morrille - which does turn up family tree sites if you google it! Morrelle turns up some sites, too. good hunting! Christine

Sarah I haven't, but as with English ancestry, you have to have a person and some idea of the dates or where in France they originated before you can do any research. [Imagine our American descendants saying "My family are called Bloggs and they came over from England" - it isn't easy unless you can say something like "I believe they came to the US in the 1840s" or "They came from Yorkshire".] nell

My father's family seem to disappear off the face of the earth (well, at least the uk!!) prior to 1830's, in addition to my earlier message, I forgot to mention that it was a recent family ?rumour that there may have been french origins? Has anyone had any experience of tracing french roots that can lead me to either confirming or dispelling this tale??........ Thanks, Sarah
