I would go for Frances if I were you. I guess it is the female version of Frank being short for Francis. |

Michelle I asked this question a while back as I have a rellie with the name Fanny on census and birth cert but could not find any births for her. I was told like you Frances is the most common but yes it could be anything, makes things so difficult as you cannot be sure then if you have the right marriage which I have not found yet. I am not sure where they married or when. Good luck with yours, Me I would rather Frances anyday. Pat x |

I'm probably being slow here, but what was the first name Fanny a shortened form of? I know it was often a first name in it's own right, but what other names could it be a pet version of - I can only think of Frances or Ann. |
