my grandfathers birth certificate shows his parents names, but i have searched every possible place to find ther marriage, ive looked on all the census's, Free BMD, IGI and there is nothing. a family member said that she heard a family tale saying that they were married in Eastern Europe or Russia in the early 1900's and that they changed their name. how on earth would i find anything about this??? |

Just a thought and not something I have tried myself, but if they left a will, it might refer to their previous names or give some clue to their true heritage. Recent threads give useful information on how to track down wills. |

try just googling their names in "speech marks" you never know what you might find, I found 2 fourth cousins this way who had already researched some tree of mine and some of it was French. Kim |

Natalie you dont mention if youve looked at 1837online*.com - this is the GRO in full but you have to pay to view any search results. If you have an approx date of marriage you could have a look on there. |

I cannot for the life of me find the reference, but I am sure there is now access to naturalisation records---I think under nationalarchives? Try putting national archives in google and then put "naturalisation" in the search box. Sorry, but I cannot find the reference---I am sure it was in a recent Family History magazine. Has anyone else found it? Wendy |
