South Shields is my area of interest! Try genuki. There are marriages for St Hilda,St Michael, St aiden, St Mark and St jude on line. There is also a wonderful South Shields librarian who will help you, but only if you have a specific query--they do not have time for a vague search. Who are you looking for and when? If you have no real details, check out the GRO index at your local record office---search for your name about 1889 till you find the reference. Wendy

You may strike lucky on http://www.ukbdm.*co.uk/ (remove asterisk) It's an info exchange for BDM certs but also baptism & church wedding & burial records. Otherwise I've found all sorts of useful things just by googling. You just have to remember to put inverted commas around compound names so that Google treats them as an item. Christine

I maybe being thick but where can I search a baptism for roughly 1889 in south shields, anywhere on the net? Thanks Tara
