Sarah Yes it does. Strange she wouldnt put the husbands name down unless he knew the circumstances and she was told not to by him, in other words he dis owns the child and made the mother show she had an illegitimate child. Well that's my guess anyway. Maybe others have come across certs like this, I havent YET! Good Luck Pat x

Sorry Pat, I thought it might be confusing. There is no fathers name on the birth cert, and I am wondering if the birth was 'secret' (and the husband was not the father), is it feasible that the mother would not declare her married name but use her maiden name instead? Hope this helps clarify my confused question!!! Sarah

Sarah I don't understand your question. Can you retype it? On the birth certs I have there is room for father's name mother's name and her maiden name. Do you mean there is no father names? Pat x

Would a married mother use her maiden name on a birth cert if the baby's father wasn't her husbands? Just wondering if this is a possibility in the early 60's. Any thoughts? Thanks.
