Ancestry website - false advertising!

Yes it is free to non members, by the way its only the burials that are on Ancestry for late 1900's can't remember the year but from about 1980-. I think Ancestry have an agreement with freebmd who supply them after freebmd have added them to their list first. Irene

Incidentally, are the Civil Registration indices available to non subscribed users. I am not sure, as I have a years subscription and as the information is free on the Freebmd site, then it should also be free elsewhere.

I suppose it is in a way, but I think they used the term that 1837online use, and assume that users will know that it is incomplete.

According to the Ancestry website and their listed collections, they claim to have the "England and Wales, Civil Registration Index: 1837-1983", but really they only have a copy of the FreeBMD database that goes up to c1909... In the Census collection, they atleast tell you which databases are partial and complete, but I couldn't find a breakdown for the BMD index. Don't you think this is false advertising?
