Heather, If you export it to .pdf format you can print it as big, or as small as you wish ... if you have a big tree on an A4 page, you're right to say you will end up with one big smudge of black ink! However, if you were to take the .pdf file on disk to a printers they could enlarge it to whatever size you want. Rgds Jon

John Thanks for that, I guess if the ancestry sub covers all the access that is worth £70 a year on its own I dont know what one world tree access means. I expect the other cds must add up to a fair amount too. I didnt get that offer, just the plain old one cd one! When you say about printing as one page, sorry if Im thick, but wouldnt the print be tiny? I can only print on A4.

Hi Heather, The 'extras' are said to be as follows: The new Family Tree Maker 2005 CD CD2488 Pallots Marriage Index CD2489 Pallots Baptism Index CD2234 Cambridge University Alumni 1290-1900 CD3935 The complete London 1891 Census Index standard on 3CDs CD2465 English Parish Records: England (General) CD2484 Scottish Parish Records: Scotland (General) CD272 Census Records: United Kingdom 1851 (partial) CD277 Introduction to British Chancery: volume 1 CD278 Introduction to British Chancery: volume 2 30 days subscription to Ancestry.com - UK and Ireland collection one year subscription to Ancestry.com - OneWorldTree Collection - A 100 page printed manual in British English Special offers in Welcome Kit including discounted additional subscriptions, magazines and other third party products That's as listed from the site .. don't know if it's worth the extra £40 .. maybe someone could advise! With reference to your 'paged' tree. On version 10 you can have the choice of exporting the tree as 'one piece' or paged, like you have done. (I too did the page thingy and ran out of glue by page 19!). Hope this helps Rgds Jon

Hi, I just got the one cd job - 30 dollars including postage from the states. What are on the other 11 cds?? By the way, yes, you can print out the whole tree over several pages. I think it would have been a better idea if I had put the tree on a cd and taken it to a library or print shop and got it put on one big sheet as it wasnt a lot of fun trying to stick it all together!

John, Like you, I was toying with the idea of Family Tree Maker 2005, I currently use FTM 10 and get on with it quite well. I noticed that the UK version of FTM 2005 comes in 3 options from the 'basic CD' at £29.90 to the 'full monty' which includes 12 CD's (all of which are supposed to be UK only) and runs in at a cool £69.95. I'm lead to believe the release date for the latter is 8th November with the 'basic' version being available now. If you need a link to the site, let me know. Hope this helps Rgds Jon

Do any of these enable you to print out your whole tree (including siblings) over several pages.

Try downloading Cumberland Family Tree from ct-software. I have used it for years and it enables you to include photographs. Download the older 2.51 version as I find that easier to use than the newer one. If you like it, mail me so I can give you further information

Hi John, I am totally non-techi, but I bought FT2005 a couple of weeks ago. I transported all the stuff from GR to it, very simply. You can follow easy details on the homepage of GR. I have also added photos, reports print all different types of trees and descendants charts, which is really useful if you just want to give someone the details of one line. I have also used the program facility for producing a homepage on the internet. As far as I have seen, yes, you would have to add updates separately. I do back it up now and then with a re-writable CD because I think Id go mad if it all disappeared through a virus or a crash. So that is one thing I would suggest you do too! But I have been very pleased with how easy it has been to use and there are still lots of facilities on there I havent got round to exploring.

Can I have a bit of advice on family tree software. I have my family tree set up on this site but I want to buy a family tree software so that I can include pictures and print fancy trees. I am considering Family Tree 2005. I still want to maintain my tree on this site in the hope that I receive contacts. My question is do I have to maintain both trees seperately? And will I be able to copy this sites tree into Family Tree 2005? John
