At the time of ordering the GRO tell you the date on which they will be despatched. Standard service is 4 days BUT YOU DO NEED TO GIVE THE GRO REF - ie person's name, year and quarter and registration district, as well as the event. nell

I ordered my grandparents marriage cert via the GRO and was told Standard Service is despatched on the 15th working day after receipt of the order. I still haven't had it and it's been a fortnight. How can you get it on Standard Service in just 4 days? Ali

Phoenix

Phoenix Report 29 Oct 2004 12:57

Before the system changed, a few years back, certificates were taking about twelve weeks to arrive if ordered by post. When the envelope finally arrived, after several anxious phone calls, it contained the bonus of two extra certificates. Surname of the individuals: Cockup Something tells me that the clerks were as fed up as I was! Brenda

If you order the standard service, they are sent out 4 working days after your order is placed. You can get them quicker using express? service but it costs about 5 times as much per certificate.

I wanted to order some marriage certificates, but I would like to know in advance how long it will take for me to get them? – I was wondering, what with the BBC show at the moment. if it will be taking longer? Also as I live abroad what will be the quickest way to order/get them? Thanks for any advice. Tracie
