Thanks Marian, I think that is too early for my lot, but just in case I am looking for John Whyman and family. Wife Mary Son William George Daughters Gertude and Alice. They appear to have moved from there in 1873 just after Alice was born. If you can find them it would be great. I haven't been able to find them in 1871, in 1881 they were in Peterborough. ecclesall bierlow got me confused too! it covers areas of sheffield such as ecclesall and the south of sheffield i believe. i have a few rellies from ecclesall bierlow myself and thats what it looks like to me anyway lol Di

some my rellies in the late 1800's came from Ecclesall Bierlow, which is now part of South Sheffield. However on the census info back then it was listed as Derbyshire! How confused am I??!! Sam

i have seen rotherham under sheffield but it is usually the certain areas ie brinsworth. and sheffield comes under west riding of yorkshire in way back times. Di

I am chasing names in Sheffield and Rotherham. Could some kind person tell me if Rotherham is included in Sheffield for census and which part of Yorks do they come under pleaaaase! Never was any good at geography!!! Idiot Jean.
