Hi Su. Sam's right...pain isnt it. I have the 1871 census for Cumberland, searching for my own rellies. If you email me direct with all the details I'll keep a look out for them...might get lucky!! Regards Mary

There is no way you can see the details from the actual birth certificate. without ordering and paying for it. Normally finding them on a census with their parents would give you the details but obviously not in this case. Have you tried searching the IGI to see if you can find him on there? Search it on www.familysearch.org Sam

Is there anywhere online where you can get information from a birth certificate ie. details of the persons parents? I am trying to find my great grandfather's parents. My great grandfather, William Jackson was born in 1868 in Gamblesby, Cumberland but he is down as living with his grandparents on the 1881 census and I can't find him or his parents on earlier censuses. I really want to know who his parents were as there is a gaping whole in my family tree ! Any help anyone can give as to how I can proceed will be gratefully received. Thanks Su Smith
