Gail The way I started tracing my birth mothers side of the family was to get her birth certificate. That gave me her parents names and I searched the 1837 online records for names in the same area with the same mothers maiden name. Hope that helps Ali

As an after thought...have you got your original birth cert? I posted a message on the Records Board with the year I was born and the address she was living at at the time. A very kind person in the area checked the elec roll for me and told me she was living with her mother and 2 sisters. Ali

There is a very nice lady on this site called Joan Allen, and she runs a tracing service called My Folks. She has an excellent reputation, having reunited lots of GR members with their birth families. Her website is www(.)myfolks(.)co(.)uk. You could also type in 'adoption' on the thread search, as this is a subject that crops up regularly! Good luck. Mandy :)
