When you save a census, they safe as a gif file. You can open this in any paint programme such as Paint Shop Pro etc. and tweak the brightness, contrast, colour setting and gamma correction. It is sometime worth changing to grey scale as this can give a sharper image, but not always.

That the quality of census page downloads can be altered somehow in Paint? Can't find the pigging message! Cheers!
