Is this site a good one to use ? Wondered if anyone could recommend it before I go spending my money. Thanks Sue

I would suggest looking at the database coverage before you spend your money. It is brilliant for Cornwall but a bit hit and miss for some other counties Im interested in. I have found a lot of information on one of my Cornish families, from Census records and baptism/marriage records etc from the site Anna :-)

Hi Sue You do not have to spend any money to register. You can then browse the indexes. You can find out exactly what the coverage is for each county. If there are lots of references you are interested in, then spend a fiver. If it's only one, ask for a look up. Some counties have much better coverage than others, and some have really interesting indexes on there. Some of the indexes are definitely better than Ancestry's. Brenda

I use it and have found it v good for the 1851 census - but it's not complete. Jacquie

Susan, I would agree with Anna, check the coverage to make sure it has the area's you need. That said it can be a very helpful site and the cost is very little ( £5 lasts for 6 months ! ) I seemed to look-up loads of info ( Most of it very useful ) and still had credit left after 6 Months Esta :)

Sue My advice would be to visit the site and click on the What Databases section in the menu. You can then search by county and see if it would be worth it. If your relatives are in East Norfolk there's not as much info as if they are in Bucks for example. Also, be aware that if you are looking for Fred Bloggs in 1851 in Bucks they will show you several entries without any further detail. You may have to click all the entries (which costs) before you find the one you want. Nell

Nell You can refine the search by date of birth. There are also plans to refine by place name, but I don't know how long that will take before it is operational. Brenda
