Today I received my FIL birth cert. It provides the mother's maiden name but I have searched for the marriage and can't find any record of it on Tees Valley. (Hartlepool records are supposed to be complete for the period in question). The father is William Robinson; not a lot of those about LOL. His occupation is given as Brewery Labourer (Ex-army). I don't know when he was born. Where should I look next?

The first wife was sent to the workhouse/hospital when she became ill and he took a housekeeper to look after the daughters of that marriage. The housekeeper, Margaret Allison, is the mother of my rellie. The first wife is supposed to have died in the workhouse sometime after 1914. FiL born in 1920. Not sure where either of the parents were born. Although I believe the father went to his brother's in Yorkshire to die. However there is no evidence as yet that the brother originated in Yorks. Why couldn't he be called Humperdinck? LOL
