Chloe, From your description of Donegal Street sounds very like St. Mark, Myddleton Square is also the local Church to that steet. Jean x.

Thank you Jean! That is what I was after! Donegal Street does exist. It's not that far from Islington High Street on the opposite side from Angel tube station. Next time I go to the FRC or LMA will have to take a trip there! The original buildings probably won't be there though. My nana grew up in London, but she never mentioned where her parents were buried, but then again I didn't ask her either! I will look up North Finchley cemetery some more. Thank you! (and thank you Heather too). Chloe

Chloe, Nearest Church to Seabrook Place is St. Mark, Myddleton Square. Can't find a Donegal Street. There is also the Holy Redeemer in Exmouth Market (Catholic). LMA has baptisms for both these Churches. My grandparents lived in this area and they were both buried at North Finchley Cemetary, which is the main burial ground covering Islington. The records are kept at the cemetary and can be searched there. Hope this helps. Jean x.

I'm assuming that my nana was baptised. I'm trying to find this baptism but having trouble finding the possible churches in the area she was born in. She was born in Donegal Street, Clerkenwell, London in September 1908. By 1912 they had moved to Seabrook Place, Holborn but they had moved back to Donegal Street by 1916. Where might she have been baptised? Her mother, Katharina Spengler, died on 12th Feb 1912 at Seabrook Place, Holborn. Where would she have likely to have been buried? When I was last at the LMA, I looked at the burials for churches there but they only went up to about the 1890s. Was it a cemetery after then? If so, where might it be? They were protestant, that I know of, possibly Catholic though.
