Hi Have you looked at http://www.westmidlandsbmd.org.uk/ It (unlike ALL the rest) hasn't been updated since 9 Dec 2003, but it is there on the list of Local Register Offfices on UKBMD.org. Don't know whether it'll have what you're after, but it's worth a look. If you go to http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/ and click on the icon (left menu bar when you get to the site) for Local BMD, you get the whole list of what's available, both in the same format was the West midlands site and in other versions. The IoW (FHS) site, for instance, puts quite a lot of info online, so that you almost don't need to order the cert. Hope that helps Christine

Hi Claire I believe Dudley was in Worcestershire..... I have the 1851 census and some of the 1861 census is on the griffs4bears site. I think the 1871 census is going to be in Staffordshire on Ancestry though, just to confuse us. Heather

Montmorency Report 21 Oct 2004 17:01

Dudley used to be a detached part of Worcestershire that was entirely surrounded by Staffs. Counties used to have lots of detached parts

Is it a bird? is it a plane? Report 21 Oct 2004 16:55

On the FreeBMD website when you click the District Dudley, it gives you the following description "The district Dudley spans the boundaries of the counties of Staffordshire and Worcestershire and information about it can be found here."
