Hi You could try The National Archives (not sure of the web no., but just put in Yahoo search The catalogue National Archives) Click on to Search the catalogue when the search list comes up, put in your g/grandfathers name and also the regiment I got my 4 times g.grandfather from this, he was in the 14th Foot regiment, and details of the WO (War Office) is given and where the records are (at Kew) I then obtained his records from Kew Good luck

I just got the birth cert of my alien G grandmother,Elizabeth Irwin who was born in Aldershot, in 1862. The fathers address is Barracks Aldershot ! He is a corporal in the 2nd battallion 20th Foot. At least I found out her mothers maiden name was Elizabeth McNeice. How do I find a soldier if they move regularly? I am pretty sure the parents came from Ireland originally. Any Ideas where I go from here?? Thanks
