Viewing trees

I have just sent an email to GR asking them to read this thread so they understand that people are having problems understanding the access to view trees. If the column on the far right of the screen says 'allow' this means that person cannot view your tree as you have to click 'allow' to allow them permission. If you do this it changes to 'remove', so remove in the right hand column means they have access to your tree. You then click 'remove' to remove their permission to view your tree.

ok now im totally confused i thought that if it said ALLOW that meant they couldn't see your tree. Julie

Marnie, You and I have exchanged a few e-mails today. No I cant see your tree. If its says remove that means your tree isn't viewable. Ann

Goodness, I have just changed from remove to allow because I thought I was allowing someone to see my tree. Now I'll have to make it say remove, and that means they can see it!! What a silly system.

Thanks Jim and Jeanette, that clears up my problem. I had no trouble before the change, why change something that was easy to understand, to something which I find confusing, perhaps its just me. Sue

Jim is right. It's so confusing since they changed it. Go into your contacts. Giving pemission and receiving permission to view trees is 2 separate things. If you have a tree in the left hand one of the 2 columns that means you can view their tree. Go to View Trees and click on the name of the person whose tree you want to view. In the right hand one of the 2 columns if you want to give someone permission to view your tree click on allow. It will then change to Remove. This now means the other person can now view your tree. If you want to remove permission click on remove. It will then change to Allow and the other person will not be able to see your tree. Hope that make sense! lol Jeanette x

Can anyone help, if you have a 'tree' next to the word view on the contacts page does that mean I can view the tree but they can't view mine? Sue
