The National Maritime Museum at Greenwich has a very helpful website. I'm planning a visit there shortly if I can be of help

There are probably good links on the bbc site. "My Ancestor was a Merchant Seaman" by Chris & Michael Watts is THE book on the subject. Records are mainly at the National Archives at Kew and for the best periods are brilliant, but you do really need to read up on it first. Brenda

On the 'Who do you think you are' programme on BBC last night Amanda Redman got hold of details etc on her Uncle Cyril from the merchant navy, does anyone know who I contact and what info they need for similar information on my merchant navy descendants. Many thanks in anticipation
